Ethics and Public Meeting Laws

Ethics Resource Materials

Oregon’s ethics law applies to all public officials including elected board members, presidents, administrators, college staff and volunteers.

  •  Ethics Guide for Public Officials
Published by the Oregon Government Ethics Commission, the guide (adopted October 26, 2010) was revised to reflect changes to Oregon Government Ethics law enacted by the Oregon Legislative Assembly in 2009. It discusses how the provisions in ORS Chapter 244 apply to public officials and summarizes Commission procedures.

Public Meeting Resource Materials

Oregon’s public meetings law requires that decisions made by the governing bodies of public bodies be made in the open, which includes meetings where the sole purpose is to gather information that may be used later to make a decision.
