SUMMARY:Building Better Math Pathways Training
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for “Building Better Math Pathways” an in-person training at the Benson Hotel (309 SW Broadway, Portland) for faculty, staff, and administrators committed to ensuring equitable math pathways are available to every community college student. We want to invite your institution to participate in this cohort work.\nThis invite is for faculty, deans, advisors/navigators, and other relevant personnel from BOTH credit mathematics and Adult Basic Education (ABE) departments. We are asking each college to build a team to join us in this important work. ABE Deans/Directors, please connect with your Academic Dean to build a collaborative team of up to 6 people. Teams should include ABE math faculty, transfer-level math faculty, ABE Dean/Director, Testing/Assessment Director, and anyone else you think would add to your team.\nThis training allows faculty, administrators, and staff across all mission areas to examine common misconceptions to break down silos and build relationships. Additionally, we will explore the curricula and learning outcomes of pre-requisite developmental math courses and ABE math courses. Participants can expect to dive deeper into developing articulation agreements that embed ABE into math pathways.\nThe asynchronous portion of the training, offered through Canvas, will lead participants through a pre-workshop module to learn more about ABE and CASAS testing on their campus. The synchronous portion of the in-person training will facilitate roundtable discussions to delve more extensively into ABE math content, challenging institutions to continue building .\nThere is NO cost for this training.\nBuilding Better Pathways AGENDA ( https://occa17.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/03/Building-Better-Pathways-AGENDA.pdf )\nTo register team members, visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GCS7NFB ( https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/GCS7NFB ) . The link to register will close March 31, 2024.\nTo make a room reservation at the Benson Hotel, click: https://www.hilton.com/en/book/reservation/deeplink/?ctyhocn=PDXBEQQ&corporateCode=3331626 ( https://www.hilton.com/en/book/reservation/deeplink/?ctyhocn=PDXBEQQ&corporateCode=3331626 )\n
