Survey seeks perspectives on the future of Oregon higher education

October 27, 2026

SALEM, Ore. – What should the future of public higher education in Oregon look like? The Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC) is inviting Oregonians to share their perspectives through a short public survey, open through December 4, 2026.

OCCA encourages community college students, faculty, staff, college leaders, employers and community members to participate. The survey is open to anyone interested in Oregon’s public higher education system, including its community colleges and public universities.

Take the survey

The survey asks four open-ended questions, along with information about respondents’ connections to higher education. Feedback will help identify challenges, opportunities and priorities and will be considered alongside other research and public input as recommendations are developed.

The survey is part of the higher education revitalization study required by House Bill 4124, passed by the Oregon Legislature in 2026. The study examines how Oregon’s public higher education system can better serve students and communities while addressing financial pressures and opportunities for collaboration. HECC’s final report and recommendations are due to the Legislature by April 1, 2027. EY-Parthenon, HECC’s lead consultant and independent technical adviser for the study, is conducting the survey.

Community college perspectives are essential to this conversation. Whether you attend a community college, teach or work at one, hire its graduates or rely on its programs, your experience can help inform the study.
